This project preserves the essence of the Modi script, while also developing a Devanagari-Modi based typographic system. It bridges historical preservation and modern usability through digitization, creating a new typeface that balances cultural heritage and innovation—offering a framework to revive endangered writing systems.

Conducted a detailed analysis of existing Modi script fonts-

This helped in understanding their structure, style, and evaluate their typographic limitations.

User research helped understand usability areas, readability challenges, and user interaction with existing Modi script fonts, which also helped determine their priorities.

The chosen style embodies a clean, organic, and humanistic impression, maintaining historical accuracy while balancing delicacy and modulation.
It features high contrast with regular, bold, and slanted variations, reflecting a design that merges traditional aesthetics with contemporary readability.

LIMITATIONS
The analysis identified several areas for refinement in the typeface to improve consistency and readability. Adjustments were needed in anusvara clarity, kana loop modulation, and dirgha aikar matra formation to ensure uniform stroke flow.
Additionally, word spacing, counter balance, and matra placements required optimization for better legibility, contextual spacing, and visual harmony across characters. These refinements guided the next phase of development in the typefaces.
